The basic skills needed to get yourself back into your raft if you fall out, help your mates back in and setting bank based safety.
These are the foundational skills that river safety is built on. As we progress through our paddling career, we'll naturally improve our boat control through experience, but without training this fundamental river running skill won't develop. Best to figure out what you're doing with a supportive team around you, in a safe environment, rather than trying to learn through experience on a remote river somewhere for the first time.
